In addition, there are many regional orchestras and other freelance opportunities that exist in the LA area. For those who wish to teach, many music programs, music schools, and other teaching programs are always looking for teachers.

Online Lessons
All too often it is costly or inefficient to travel to California just for a single one-hour flute lesson. In order to reach more flutists, Jim now offers one-on-one lessons online via Skype.™
What you need:
- A computer with a microphone and webcam
- A reliable broadband internet connection
- Skype™ software installed on your computer
- A PayPal account
How it works:
- Email Jim to set up an appointment for a test Skype Call using the information he provides you.
- If the Skype test is successful, an online lesson can be scheduled to take place at a mutually agreed upon time.
- Submit payment for your lesson via PayPal prior to your lesson time.
- At the arranged time, log-in to Skype and contact Jim to complete your lesson.

Private Lessons
Private lessons with Jim are available in the Los Angeles area. These can be arranged either at his home in Oak Park, or at USC or Colburn, depending on Jim's schedule.
Lessons with Jim are available in other cities while he is travelling (see the concert and masterclass schedule for dates and locations).

The Colburn School and Conservatory
Studying at the Colburn School Conservatory of Music
The Colburn School Conservatory of Music offers four programs: the Bachelor of Music in Performance degree, the Performance Diploma, the Artist’s Diploma, and the Professional Studies Certificate. These programs offer full support (tuition, room and board) to highly talented students pursuing the highest levels of classical music performance training. The Colburn School is located in downtown Los Angeles, across the street from Walt Disney Concert Hall.
