Emily Tuan
Hometown: Diamond Bar, CA
Currently an undergrad at the Colburn School Conservatory, Emily began her musical studies at the age of 5 beginning with the piano and continued at the age of 12 with the flute. She has been instructed under Catharine Derenzis and Dr. Martin Glicklich. Her most memorable accomplishment is her performance of the third movement of the Ibert Flute Concerto with the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra, a perfect closing to her high school career. Along with her hobbies of entering competitions and performing for both familiar and unfamiliar faces, Emily finds an affinity for collaborating with her fellow Colburn colleagues to create improvised modern pieces. When she is not engaged in musical activities, Emily enjoys reading chick-lit novels and conservations over hot cocoa with her companions.
