Performer Application Information 2011

The Second Application Deadline for Performers is April 1, 2011.
The Final Application Deadline for Performers is April 15, 2011.

Acceptance Information
College students of all levels (BM, MM, DMA) focused on professional development generally make up the bulk of the performers accepted to the class. However, high school students looking to pursue a career in music, as well as serious amatuers are also encouraged to apply.

The number of performers is limited and acceptance to the class is competitive. Performers will be selected solely on the quality of their performance on their audition recording. Those not invited to attend as a performer may be invited to attend as a full-week auditor.

Applications will be notified of their status by May 1, 2011.

Tuition Fee
The Performer's Fee is $1000 for the six-day session. Performers will play twice in masterclass, with other possible performance opportunites available during the week. They will also attend all masterclasses and workshops and perform in a public concert featuring all masterclass performers. This fee also includes a 45-minute private lesson with Jim. Lessons with guest artists are available at request for an extra fee.

Room & Board
Housing is available at the Colburn residences at a cost of $65 per night. Meals are not included. Participants should plan on spending about $25 a day for their meals. The Colburn School Cafe will be open for the duration of flute week, although the hours of operation have not been finalized as of yet.

Audition Recording
Include a recording with your application (only CD format will be accepted) of two contrasting, standard flute works that best display your playing. Accompaniment is necessary if the piece includes it, but solo works are also acceptable. In place of one flute work, two contrasting orchestral excerpts may be substituted. The recording should be recent; within the last year at most. Live recordings are acceptable. Non-edited performances are preferred. Please make sure the sound quality represents you accurately.
