Performers and Auditors
The
application deadline is now past for performers. Auditors who wish only
to attend all sessions may still send in applications until June 3.
Performers
Performers will perform twice in masterclass, receive a private lesson,
attend all masterclasses and participate in all seminars, attend Jim
& Viviana's recitals, participate in flute ensemble, and perform in
a gala recital at the end of the week. The performer's registration fee
is $750.
The
number of performers is limited. Performers will be selected on the
basis of an audition recording. Those not invited to attend as a
performer may be invited to attend as a full-week auditor and perform
in flute ensemble.
Auditors
There are several ways you can audit Flute Week:
| 1) Attend a Single Masterclass or Seminar |
$30 |
|
| 2) Attend a Full Day (Masterclass & Seminar) |
$50 |
|
| 3) Attend all Masterclasses and Seminars |
$200 |
|
| 4) Attend all, plus play in Flute Ensemble |
$350 |
(must also send in an audition CD) |
Those
who wish to audit the entire week or audit the whole week and play in
flute choir should fill out an application just like the performers
(see below), with the fees due no later than June 3, 2008. Those who
wish to audit a single session or a single day should simply show up on
the day they wish to attend and see the attendant at the door of the
class.
Room & Board
Housing is available at the Colburn residences at a cost of $300 for
the week. Meals are not included. Participants should plan on spending
about $25 a day for their meals. The Colburn School Cafe will be open
for the duration of flute week, although the hours of operation have
not been finalized as of yet.
How to Apply
Download the Application Form (PDF)
The application fee for performers is $20 (non-refundable). Make checks payable to Jaywah Music, Inc.
The application deadline is May 19th. Applications must be received by this date, not postmarked.
Qualified
applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, so
applying early is recommended. If the class becomes full, qualified
applications will be placed on a waiting list.
Audition Recording
Include a recording with your application (only CD format will be accepted)
of two contrasting, standard flute works that best display your
playing. Accompaniment is necessary if the piece includes it, but solo
works are also acceptable. In place of one flute work, two contrasting
orchestral excerpts may be substituted. The recording should be recent;
within the last year at most. Live recordings are acceptable.
Non-edited performances are preferred. Please make sure the sound
quality represents you accurately.
Also include a brief biography (1-2 paragraphs) with your application describing yourself and your musical accomplishments.
Mail your completed application, audition CD, biography, and application fee to:
