Ways to get to Colburn

Driving Directions

Transit from the Airport
Super Shuttle ($16 one way)
Taxi (approx. $40 - $45 from LAX to downtown)
Metro Rail ($4 one way)
Take the free shuttle from the airport to the Green Line Metro stop (Aviation/LAX). Transfer to the Blue Line at Harbor Freeway. Take the Blue Line toward 7th Street Metro Center. Transfer to the Red Line at 7th Street/Metro Center. Take the Red Line toward Union Station. Exit at the Civic Center Station. Walk uphill for two blocks on Tom Bradley Blvd/1st Street. Take a left at Grand Ave. Disney Hall wil be across the street. The Main Entrance will be on your left.

Parking
Free Parking is available to those attending Flute Week events in the Colburn Garage located on Kosciuszko, between Olive Street and Lower Grand Avenue. There is limited street parking available at meters in the area. Various parking lots and garages in the area have prices ranging from $8/day to $20/day.

The streets around the Colburn School can be VERY confusing for those not familiar with the area. The main reason for this is that Grand Avenue has an upper and a lower level. Some cross streets have access to Upper Grand, while others access Lower Grand. Some cross streets (such as 3rd Street) bypass Grand Ave entirely. Many streets in downtown are one-way, so if you miss a turn, you might have to go an extra couple blocks to go around and come back the other way.

The main entrance to the school is on Upper Grand Avenue.
The entrance to the parking garage is on Lower Grand Avenue.

From LAX Airport
From the Airport, head West on Century Blvd, toward Vicksburg Ave
Turn left at Sepulveda Blvd. You will enter a tunnel. Stay in the right-hand lane.
Take the ramp onto I-105 East, to your right. Drive 6.7 miles to I-110 North
Take the I-110 North exit. Drive 8.2 miles.
Take the 4th Street exit (Exit 22B)

If headed to the Parking Garage, stay in the left-hand lane and merge left to the turn lane for Grand Ave just past the overpass. Turn left onto Lower Grand Ave.
Once on Lower Grand, drive about 2 blocks to the next stoplight, which is Kosciuszko. Turn right onto Kosciuszko.
The parking garage will be immediately to your left, before you reach the 2nd stoplight, which is Olive Street.

If headed to the Main Entrance, continue on 4th Street for another 2 blocks and turn right onto Olive Street.
Go one block and turn right onto 5th Street.
Go one block and turn right onto Grand Avenue (this will be Upper Grand).
The Main Entrance will be on your right, 2-3 blocks, right before you get to Walt Disney Concert Hall.

From 101 East/South
Take Hwy 101 into downtown Los Angeles.
Take the Temple Street exit.
Go straight through the light. You will now be on Hope Street.
Continue on Hope Street for about 3 blocks. You will pass Walt Disney Concert Hall on your left.
Turn left at 2nd Place, just passed WDCH.
At the next light, make a slight left (just don't take a right or hard left turn) onto Kosciuszko.
The Parking Garage will be on your left once you head into the tunnel, and before your reach the 2nd stoplight, which is Olive Street.

If headed to the Main Entrance, continue on Kosciuszko and make a right onto Olive Street.
Go 2-3 blocks on Olive Street and turn right onto 5th Street.
Go one block and turn right onto Grand Avenue (this will be Upper Grand).
The Main Entrance will be on your right, 2-3 blocks, right before you get to Walt Disney Concert Hall.

From I-10 West
Head toward downtown Los Angeles and follow the signs for Hwy 101 North.
Follow the signs for the 110 / Pasadena Freeway / Grand Ave exit, staying in the right-hand lane.
Keep right at the fork, and follow the signs for Grand Ave.
At the bottom of the exit, turn right onto Grand Ave. This is Upper Grand Ave.

If headed to the Parking Garage, turn left at 1st Street (Disney Hall is on the corner).
Go one short block and turn right onto Olive Street.
Go about 1 and 1/2 blocks. Just past 2nd Street is a stoplight for Kosziuszko. Turn right.
Immediately to your right will be the entrance to the parking garage, well before you get to the next stoplight.

If headed to the Main Entrance, you could continue on Grand Ave and go past Disney Hall. The Colburn School will be on the left-hand side of the street. You can either park on the right-hand side of the street and cross, or do a U-turn in the middle of the street (risky!) in order to park in front of the building. To come around from the other direction, so you are on the correct side of the street, do the following:
At Disney Hall, take a left onto 1st Street.
Go one short block and turn right onto Olive Street.
Go about 4 blocks on Olive Street and turn right onto 5th Street.
Go one block and turn right onto Grand Avenue (this will be Upper Grand).
The Main Entrance will be on your right, 2-3 blocks, right before you get to Walt Disney Concert Hall.

From I-10 East
Head toward downtown Los Angeles and take the 110 North to Downtown. Remain in the two exit-lanes on the right side of the freeway.
Take the 4th Street exit (Exit 22B)

If headed to the Parking Garage, stay in the left-hand lane and merge left to the turn lane for Grand Ave just past the overpass. Turn left onto Lower Grand Ave.
Once on Lower Grand, drive about 2 blocks to the next stoplight, which is Kosciuszko. Turn right onto Kosciuszko.
The parking garage will be immediately to your left, before you reach the 2nd stoplight, which is Olive Street.

If headed to the Main Entrance, continue on 4th Street for another 2 blocks and turn right onto Olive Street.
